If I want to read a Kindle book, do I need to own a special device?

No. You can read a Kindle book on most computers, tablets and smart phones without any other device required. All you need to do is to download one of the FREE Kindle reading apps here.

Of course, there is also a device called the Kindle e-reader which is basically meant for reading Kindle books, but that is not a necessity to read Kindle books.
